Au revoir Singapore

2 hours till the landlord comes over and I’m officially moved out and left Singapore, for the 3rd time in a decade. I’m now 99.99% packed ;-) I got rid of tons of things which I either didn’t use or were too old or I couldn’t care about. After all this de-cluttering and scaling down I still have huge amount of things.

One trick I learned from relocating is to always keep a spare box for last minute items. It’s amazing how some ’stuff’ is just hiding in places in the house which you only find and realize you need to pack in the very last minute. And that stuff is about 3 times more than the stuff you thought you left for the last minute. In this case however I don’t have a spare box, because I don’t have any boxes at all. I’ve moved my things with suitcases over the last couple of months and I’m only shipping one Jumbo Box of books. I even left a huge diving bag full of heavy stuff at my colleague’s place because there was just no way I could take that stuff this time around.

When the person at the check-in sees me today they’ll probably freak out. I’m carrying luggage for 3 people. We’ll see what the cost damage of that is as they’ll probably be eager to slap me with excess baggage charges. I figured that’s still cheaper and less hassle than shipping and getting bogged down with customs issues.

Right, time to take care of that 0.01%, see ya on the other side of the relocation - arriving and unpacking :-)
