The Mozilla organization has just released Firefox 2.0 RC3. Before I go into any details a wanring - do NOT try this at home - unless of course you know what you’re doing and have backups etc.
Firefox 2 Release Candidate 3 (RC 3) is a preview release of our next generation Firefox browser and is being made available for download to Web application developers, our testing community and users who want to get a sneak peek at the next version of Firefox. Please note that at this time, users should not expect all of their extensions, plugins and themes from previous versions of Firefox to work properly.

Anyways, I’ve installed it and had a look around. First thing is that a lot of extensions don’t port over from 1.5.x, never mind, there are extension management tools that work around that. Mine did and most extensions seem fine except for an annoying error message from the excellent Tabbrowser Extensions which I use heavily. So that’s the first issue, the next issue was that the bookmarks toolbar didn’t load up properly and twitched around in terms of size sometimes showing ok sometimes not. In any case, to make a long story short unless you’re really inclined to trying out beta stuff then wait for official release and maybe even a few months after while ppl work out their extensions, especially if you rely on them heavily like me, current count at 26 extensions installed. If you’re still on IE, and have managed to read up till here - quite an unbelieveable feat, then obviously go and download the current public release of Firefox, that’s almost the only page my IE ever gets to see :-)
P.S. Came to my attention via Rotter.net (an Israeli site).
