iTunes problem, yes me too.

As people mentioned in the comments to the previous post on iTunes, version x.0 from Apple is usually buggy. If only I knew how buggy it was going to be I wouldn’t have upgraded. Lots of users reported a host of issues, mine are:

1. iPod syncing - iTunes kept wiping up my music saying the iPod is corrupted and then reloaded all my 20gb of music, almost every time I plugged it in.
2. Album art - it kept messing up and mixing the album art on iPod
3. Sound - turned scratchy after an hour or so of playing
4. Hanging - iTunes routinely hangs and the process has to be killed

So, after releasing a music player and iPod management software which doesn’t play music properly or syncs correctly, Apple released a fix today, quietly saying:

iTunes 7.0.1 addresses stability and performance issues with Cover Flow, CD importing, iPod syncing, and more.

Right..

Well I’ve installed 7.0.1, hoping it will solve the problems. So far, no hanging and no reloading of all my music - great. However, party shuffle doesn’t seem to work well and the Source isn’t being updated when I select from the pulldown menu. In addition, podcasts aren’t being downloaded. So another “great” piece of software from Apple. One could say, well it’s free. But it isn’t really, iTunes is marketed as the software for managing iPod - how else would you load music into it? The iPod doesn’t come with any software and there are third party applications out there but that’s not how iPod is sold.

The iPod itself btw is great, it’s just a pity that Apple screwed up big time on iTunes.
