Excellent story. I could identify with a lot of it. At some point back when I was still working the day job I considered, for a brief moment, going back to Israel. I thought that with almost 10 years experience managing IT projects on a global scale with some of the largest companies in the world, an MBA, fluency in 3 languages and good references I should be able to find something in Israel relatively easily. Didn’t happen. Unlike this guy though I wasn’t too surprised and I also didn’t quit and move back without seeing any kind of interest with recruiters first. Now I wouldn’t go back even for the CEO position of some of those places I applied to in the past.

Why wouldn’t you, if you don’t mind me asking?

Good question, I gave it some thought and this is what I think: 2 main reasons for how things are different for me now.

    1. Trading is not only immensely challenging and rewarding on an intellectual level, it is also financially rewarding enough to allow me to live a comfortable life.

    2. Financial rewarding is of course part of many good jobs. The other more unique reason is that trading full time gives me a type of freedom both on day to day basis as well as more long term that other jobs can’t give I think.
