Male circumcision reduces the risk that men will contract HIV through intercourse with infected women by about 70 percent, according to a study reported in The Wall Street Journal.

After discovering the dramatic results, French and South African researchers halted the study about nine months in order to offer the uncircumcised men the opportunity to undergo the procedure, the newspaper reported.

How Silly. 450,000 American men who were cut at birth have died of AIDS. Circumcision doesn’t prevent AIDS. Israel and Japan have the same very low rate of HIV infection. Japan doesn’t circ; in Israel it’s nearly universal.

The “study” mentioned was halted early to make sure the cut mens infection rate didn’t start catching up to the intact mens. The cut men were healing and abstinant for most of the brief study period. The cut men were strongly admonished to use condoms while the intact men were not. Read the study. Read the prior writings of the authors.

Thanks for the comment. All good points. I wasn’t about the research this study and the entire body of knowledge on the topic as it’s just beyond my means. Naturally, I would never recommend anyone to take AIDS lighlty and rely on this or other reseaarch as protection. Appreciate your contribution to that effect.
