Monday trades

Difficult trade selection today, nothing really stood out as a classic dummy but the overall market was weak so I went with 2 shorts: LOW and C. Both worked out ok and I ended up with +5.1R.

I’ve got an old friend visiting from Japan this week so I’m happily busy with going out, getting pissed and generally having long talks which is a nice change from my usual solitary existence. I’ll be having a really short week this week with Thanksgiving on Thursday following with traveling to Singapore over the weekend. I can’t believe it’s almost end of November already. This means I’m almost done trading for this year, after the Singapore trip I’m flying off to Phuket and Similan for vacation and some diving, followed by a trip to Vietnam for Xmas and then a home visit in January. I’ll still trade if I get a chance so will also post updates but they will probably be a bit sparse as of Thursday.

man, you are having a lifestyle that everybody is admiring. Is this life of full time trading? I would work extra hard to achieve that :-)

Gav - well I typically travel quite a bit but not having to apply for leave or report to any project deadlines does help in taking short impromptu trips.

Unlike what some people think, and I heard this from a few people around me, that doesn’t mean I trade “whenever and wherever I feel like”. The majority of the time I need to maintain discipline and focus and trade day in and day out.

Yeah, I definitely understand that. ‘Trade whenever and wherever I feel like’ is just a marketing gimmick of trading coach and courses. :-)

Enjoy your upcoming vacations. I would really like to visit Phuket sometime… I hear it’s very nice. As for ‘trading whenever’, I don’t think that is such a far out point. One of the greatest benefits of being a daytrader is the fact that you can trade anywhere as long as you have an internet connection and a laptop. Of course, this all assumes there are no distractions where you are trading. I actually did it for two weeks this summer in Florida. Now, while you may be able to trade anywhere the real question is… do you want to? In that sense, you need to treat daytrading like any other job and allot yourself ‘vacation time’. Apparently, you understand that concept very well :) Enjoy!!

Yes it is possible to trade from other locations, I’ve done it before when I was in Israel, but as you said the environment has to be right to allow that.
