Office 2007 Beta 2 released

More techie stuff. Office 2007 Beta 2 has just been released.

You can download it from here.

If you’re running an older pre-release of 2007 you’ll need to uninstall the older version first (not needed if you’re on 2003, or so I’m told). The new Beta 2 has a slightly different look but the major improvement I noticed is error messages I received with the previous beta release are gone, Excel and Word load up much faster and menus etc. are all much smoother. Graphs in a 2003 version Excel file are still loading kind of slow but are displaying more accurately than before so some improvement has gone into this as well. Oh yes, very important, one of the first things you should do after installing and running is to go to “File” (the Windows icon in the left hand corner) and choose Word Options - Personalize and change the colour scheme from the horrible Windows XP (blue) to the much cooler Windows Visa (gray) :-)

Be careful with Outlook and One Note 2007 betas if you use search — especially Microsoft search. There are many reports on various blogs that it breaks Microsoft’s own search and displays an obnoxious warning if you don’t have it or use another search app.

Thanks Scott. I don’t use MS search, it is a drag on my pc performance. I’m very sensitive to things opening and loading in a snappy manner.
