Another step closer to a Microsoft free shop - QCharts now works on my Linux! With a bit of mucking around it now loads up.
What you need is to install:
1. Wine HQ
2. Mozille ActiveX Control installed on Wine from here: http://crossover.codeweavers.com/redirect/mozcontrol
3. msvcirt.dll and mfc42.dll copied over from Windows’s system folder to Linux Wine’s /windows/system
4. Download and install the normal QCharts
after a couple of seconds of finger crossing.. bob’s your uncle! (Thanks goes to a fellow trader named Chris who helped out with this).
With IB’s TWS, QCharts and OpenOfice.org Calc (Excel) running on my Linux I am going to be spending very little time on M$ Windows.

can you be more specific on how you got qcharts to work with wine!!!!!!!!! I am having no luck in the 3 months of trying, I can’t even get ie6setup to work!!!!
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
You’ll need to start with a fresh clean install of wine, it doesn’t work with IE installed. Install qcharts as usual and then install microsoft trutype fonts and mozilla activex from here: http://crossover.codeweavers.com/redirect/mozcontrol
Hope it works for u.
Fyi, I moved away from using QCharts on linux because the hotlists behave differently. If you’re not using hotlists then there should be no problem.
