SYMC, RHAT, S, CHTR, CELG (yup, too many)

So, I’m back from the play. It was quite nice, good acting and production. I didn’t like the ending very much though, I thought it was a bit weak on the characters transformation. Anyways, for today’s trades. I ended up taking more trades than I usually do because all of them fit my plan, it’s quite rare to have that many but when it happens I invariably used to select the losing 3 out of the 5 candidates. So I slowly forced myself to take all (or almost all) of the candidates if they all fit the plan. So these were the trades:

Shorts:
SYMC - Stopped me out shortly after my previous post for -1R
RHAT - Stopped me out about the same time SYMC did for -1R

When shorts like these don’t work in a day which starts as weak as today the only thing I can think of is that this market is still mighty strong. Famous last words / Duh! - take your pick ;-)

Longs:
S - Closed EOD for +1.6R
CHTR - Closed EOD for +0.4R
CELG - Closed EOD for +5.4R

So the end result is +5.4R, not bad considering I was expecting to be down at least a couple of R’s today. I was quite drained though by the time I finished with all the paperwork of setting these up.

Ah, gotta love that trade management. I read a post the other day where the guy said his trading routine was like “working in a factory” just cranking out widgets. Supposedly, you’ve “arrived” when the trading routine becomes a boring job, just like any other — oh, and when you’re making enough to live on, too, of course.

    Thanks John.

Scott - Trading becomes a relatively boring job for me once I’ve identified my candidates for the day, after that it’s just entering numbers into Excel and order entry into IB’s TWS. The process of choosing the candidates is more involved and less technical in nature.
