Watching Bangkok Dangerous in Bangkok

We went to watch Nicholas Cage’s new movie Bangkok Dangerous. I liked the movie, but just as a casual lazy afternoon entertainment. Nothing too profound or ground-breaking. There were lots of cliches as one could expect from a movie set in Asia. They didn’t use the city too much as a backdrop and many scenes could have been almost anywhere. I also thought Nicholas Cage looked a bit old and tired in the movie, maybe that’s part of the character but he wasn’t able to shake it off even for parts where he was supposed to be less melancholic. On the positive side many of the characters looked quite believable with the exception of the girl he was going after and her mother. The action scenes were quite standard, I thought they could have done better in many cases. All in all I would probably give this movie a score of 6.5 out of 10.

Whatever expression NC “acts”, it always looks the same - anger, joy, orgasm. Sounds like he’s the same in this movie.

Yeah seems like it. I think it’s also mediocre directing, in other movies like Face Off and Windtalkers he was quite good. But in National Treasure (except maybe the first one) and Hell rider one he terrible.
