New addition to the home office

I’ve not been too happy with my chair recently, shown here, and started feeling my lower back every now and then. So I decided to get a new computer / task chair, this time with the best ergonomics I could find. I remembered that Andrew from HumbleMoney mentioned the Herman Miller Aeron that Kirk uses so I researched that, I then found out also about the contender to the crown SteelCase Leap. So I looked them up in Thailand and actually managed to find them at local distributors. Not surprisingly though they cost a bomb here, the Aeron is about $1,500 and the Leap is about $2,500! Way over their prices in the US to the point where I thought that if I really liked the Leap I’d import it myself. Anyway after checking out the chairs in the showroom I actually went for a different chair, a Korean brand called Sidiz. The T50 model was the most comfortable, adjustable-everything chair I could find. Height, tilt position, tilt tension, lumbar support depth, lumbar height, seat depth, seat angle, arm rests height, arm rests tilt and head rest. And it was only $470 (in true Thai fashion about double the price it retails for in Korea). Besides being able to completely adjust it to fit my body it has the best of both worlds in terms of materials – mesh back and a sitting cushion unlike the Leap and Aeron. Now I just hope the quality will last for at least a couple of years :-)

Cool, looks very comfortable.
I was going to buy myself a bike as a reward when my trading profits hit a certain level in May, but am still waiting for that bike.. A chair is a tax deduction on the other hand so maybe I should invest in one of these guys first.
Andrew.
Or maybe claim you use the bike inside the house as a working chair ;-)
Hi Eyal……do you recall the name and location of the store in Bangkok where you purchased your Sidiz chair? I’m also in Bangkok and am interested in buying an ergo chair.
Also, are you still happy with it and would you still recommend it over any other ergo chairs available in Bangkok?

David, I bought the chair from http://www.modernform.co.th they have several branches. I recommend calling the showrooms to check which one has the chairs on display for you to try out.
You can also check Central World, I saw some chairs on the third/fourth floors.
I’m still pretty happy with it. I use it every single day, often for pretty long hours. The only thing that degraded a bit is one of arm rests started getting a bit looser recently. I would probably still buy it now, for the price and features + comfort it’s hard to beat and felt better for me than the Herman or SteelCase. Try them out for yourself to make sure.
Thank you, Eyal…..best wishes for successful and comfortable trading for us both!

Hey David, did you find a chair you liked?
Getting close…..but sorta’ want to make the chair purchase part of an overall upgrade to my trading setup, and I’m still nailing down the biggest component — the computer hardware. Hopefully, I’ll have it all sorted and can let you know about it soon!
CHEERS!
